A sawmill man all his career, he rose through the ranks from laborer to mill
superintendent at Sylvania with Altman Lbr Co, later C.C. Royal Lbr Co. He
had an outstanding mechanical mind and could build almost anything mechanical.
He was also excellent with math. He joined the Baptist Church late in life.Elum and Vivian had the following children:
