A William Hendry, Mid Skinner and W. H. McDonald, were tapped for jury pool in Fall 1879 in Polk Co TX. Neither actually served, i.e. challenged by State or Deft. - rhg
Probably the William who is found in the 1870 census for Pennington, Trinity Co TX; James, ditto. Polk Co was formed from part of Trinity Co between 1870 and 1880; No more Hendrys show up in Trinity Co past the 1870 census.
1880 census shows brother, C. B. (Columbus B.) and James H. in Polk Co near each other; with William and his father,

James B. Hendry [Parents] was born in 1810 in MS. He died in 1890 in Corrigan,Polk Co TX. He was buried in Union Springs Cem.,Corrigan,Polk Co TX. He married Anna M. Bright on 15 Sep 1844 in Rankin Co MS. James was counted in a census in 1880 in Polk Co. Texas.
Other marriages:Grimes, Ritty Ann1880 Polk Co. census, Texas has both his parents to be born in South Carolina. Married to Ritty Ann Grimes 1841. Other family sources claim father was b. NC; mother was b. in SC. Census indicates he was b. 1815 or 35 at the 1850 census.- rhg Most family believes that all but the last child was born in MS. - rhg
James had 14 children; including 4 sets of twins! We have been unable to find Ritty Ann and James' marriage data,
and we did find a James B. Hendry married to Anna M. Bright in 1844 Rankin Co MS (where he was living at the time).
We had, at first, thought that Ritty died with the birth (or shortly after) of the first or second child, and James B.
remarrying; however, Ritty Ann is buried in Polk Co and in 1881. Still working on this. It should be noted that also

The year following a marriage to Anne Bright (1844) - a Jane Henry also married in Rankin Co MS to a Drurea
GILBERT on 16 Dec 1845. Sister? We are putting her in the database in a *sister position* to remember the possibility as we go for docs, etc. - rhgWe were originally told that James B. was born 1810; however, he is listed in the 1850 Rankin Co MS as 35 and born in TN. ACK! His wife is listed as Henrietta (Ritty a nickname?) age 26 in 1850 and b. LA. Also, from that census, we learned that an additional child, WILEY, age 10 in 1850, existed. Heh. - rhg

1870 Trinity Co. census spells her name(Taffie) and has her 19 years old Has a twin sister Irene Hendry. Other censuses show her as Eliza, E. J. and Jaffie. Another relative, "Granny Rasberry" remembers her name to be Eliza Josephine, aka Aunt FEEN. He twin, Irene, was known as Aunt REEN. James H Hendry [Parents] was born in 1849 in MS. He married Martha Wilcox about 1875.
Twin of Frank. There's some confusion on the birthdate of James H. and his twin brother, Frank. Historians claim they were born in 1849; not 1861. Searching for better documentation.
We have found James H. in the 1880 Polk Co TX showing his age as 30 (enumerated 11 June 1880) - looks as though
the 1849 birth year is on target. (Census images viewed - not an extract) Image 19 (Ancestry.Com) District 70. - rhgNo data seems available on the death or burial locale for either James or wife, Martha. - rhg
Most likely the James found in the 1870 census for Pennington, Trinity Co TX. His brother, William H. is also shown in the same census, same locale, same page.
Polk Co TX was made up of part of Trinity Co (or Liberty Co) about 1870-1880. James shows up in 1880 census
for Polk Co with brothers Columbus and William H and his father, James B.There was some confusion on the children: A Lula V. and a Lou Hendry were given; however, we have learned that they are one in the same. We are back to 5 children; finding all but "Jack" in the 1880 census for Polk Co TX. Martha Wilcox [Parents] was born calculated 1839 in MS. She married James H Hendry about 1875.

Eastman was a HENDRY when she married; and the article claims that James and Martha had a DAVE (another one?) and no one can figure out where a JACK came from... we assume that James adopted her children. We are working to find better dates, etc. 1/18/01 - found other children in 1870 Trinity Co TX census - husband is not showing. She also had a daughter, Martha, age 13, in that census - old enough for marriage by the time she

Don Reeves of Tx tells us that Martha was listed with A.J., her father, in 1850 MS census, but not in 1860 census of Trinity Co TX. [This makes sense as her first child (known) was born ca 1857 - must have been married to Eastman by then. - rhg

Found Jack - James Eastman age 2 in the Trinity Co
TX census. Raised by Hendry and took his name.
